Default Headers

I decided im not going to buy gears or LSD because i dont want worse mileage, lower top end speed and i dont race enough. I looked at some JBA shorties and read i will only get about 10 hp gain. Do headers change the sound of the exhaust at all? I know they will make the car louder. Will they help out throttle response at all? Are they even worth buying?
I also read something that said headers take away highway drone. Is this true?

One last thing
On my tune i can change my WOT shifts. I have no clue what i should set it at or what "shift" means.

I can't say for sure that they take away the drone. I put them on the same time I put my duals on. I went with the Cheapo stainless e-bay ones. See link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-...Q5fAccessories

Just do gears and a LSD. I just put gears in my GT and could not be happier, my gas mileage went up 1 mpg in city driving and it is a lot quicker. As far as top speed, you don't need to worry about that. 5th is overdrive so it is geared to bring you above 200mph if you have the power. However, it takes a massive amount of power to get that fast. Gears will actually increase top end too simply because you will be further in powerband in 5th gear.

Well my dad bought the car. He doesnt want me to put the gears and LSD on because of an argument we had... And for some other reason. So i thought about headers and not sure if i should actually get them.

Oh well in that case I'd honestly just save the money. I considered doing headers, but the install is hard. I don't know how it is on the v6, but on a GT it is a pain. Maybe save up for wheels and tires if you still have the stock ones.

well its has the gt rims and pirelli tires so thats good enough for me. But how much different sounding with the headers make the exhaust? Its the only other performance mod that could make a somewhat difference that i want.

Shorty headers don't make much difference in sound nor power, and not really worth the money. Muffler choice will have a bigger affect on the sound.

As far as installation, headers on the V6 are relatively easy to put in .

Well i read that the headers help cancel drone on highway a lot, which is another reason why i might want them. Besides headers what would be a good mod that could give me some power?

Maybe you could get some underdrive pulleys. When I had my Ranger with the 4.0 in it that made a big difference for me. Engine revved up quicker but the biggest difference was gas mileage, I got like 2mpg better. Or you could get some nitrous
