keeping your stock cats&using either an h pipe or the mac prochamber helps keep a nice deep exhaust note. I think the 4.0 sounds good i've had 5 different setups between my 06&2010 4.0's and they all had their good&bad points
WOW good to see some of the GT jack a$$'s still come around to add lots of garbage to these threads.
In short no, but the V6 does have a unique sound, I met a guy from NY in Carlisle PA show from the mustancollective who had no cats, gt H pipe and Mac that sounded awesome and close to the v6 at idle. Of course a different RPM's it will be different. The S197 3v sounds different than the 2v and the 5.0.
Embrace your sound, play around w/a few different systems and enjoy the car cause after all it is a Mustang.

It's a completely impossibility, the v8 has a different firing order than the v6 and the v6 has this strange intake valve tuning and runner tuning which make all exhaust sounds horrible on it. The stock exhaust is actually amazing in terms of sound if you listen to the unmuffled engine. The Mustang v6 is the worst sounding engine I've heard in the world by far.
I'm guessing w/this statement you don't get out much and haven't heard many ricers? Or is this a funny way you are taking a shot at the V6?

I have a Borla dual kit w/ X pipe on my sixer. I think it has a more "performance" tone instead of just really loud. I think it is funny that some people around my area with v6's make them as loud as they can and think they are bad-ass sounding.
There isn't really a way of duplicating the v8 sound with a v6, (due to firing order) so you are going to have to listen to a few set-ups or try a few and make a personal judgement.
Exhaust is all personal preference, what I like you may think sounds like crap and visa-versa.

I think the FRPP M5230V6 dual exhaust kit with the GTA mufflers sounds great. Its not a V8 sound but it is better then most V6 exhaust kits for the Mustang. Loud is not the answer on some V6s.

I've heard many things but I don't think you can comprehend how bad an engine can sound until you hear the mustang v6 with the wrong exhaust doing a sweep of the tach.
It's the worst sounding production noise on the planet. This is not an estimate or a guess.
My daily driver is the v6 pony package convertible...
It's actually worse sounding than this (which is pretty bad):

Tip of the Month, October: Do not buy the $730 Roush Exhaust which a Mangnaflow rep says costs to $117 make (polished, all ss), buy the $170 Roush Exhaust Tips estimated to cost $46 to make and weld them to another company's muffler. This also lets you choose how your car sounds.

...serious.
So I'm guessing you have proof to back this up, I mean since this is no guess or not an estimate, lets see tests you have done to prove this.
We are not talking about a bad sounding exhaust, we are talking about a stock or a guy that is willing to make his car sound good.
It seems with a V6 and a Saleen in your stable you would actually have some love for Mustangs, but instead you have a need to come here and stroke your EPEEN and tell everyone your flawed opinion about your biased view of a V6.
BTW I sold a V6 that sounded pretty kick ass so maybe PAL you are the only one who can comprehend the sweeping of a tach sounding worse than a fart can Civic trying to do a rev up and blow by.
Thats a horrible sound, serious!
