Default ? Going With a Dual Exhaust

Just got my 4.0L v6 and was wondering what would be the best setup for going with a dual exhaust? What would be best in terms of sound and performance?

Well you've got several decisions to make. First you have to decide on a crossover, which is where your "best for sound and performance" question comes into play. An H style crossover will give you a deeper tone, which most people consider to be the better sound. The X pipe will give you slightly better performance (though any gain would be barely noticeable) but will give you a higher note that has been compared to a foreign car sound. Some people do like though, its relative like any thing else with these cars. Then you have to decide on mufflers which is a whole 'nother game. Borla stingers usually come highly recommended for a good, deep rumble, but they're pretty pricey. It's really time for you to go to youtube and look around a bit more to narrow it down and focus your research that way. Just don't focus too much on the power gains companies are claiming their product has over another, the true selling points are in the sound

I use a single GT takeoff muffler and am very happy with that. The car has a deeper, richer exhaust note without drone. I get some nice volume during acceleration but then it quiets down for cruising. Lots of owners install both GT mufflers, which gives more volume but probably also some drone issues. You'll also have to pay for the H-pipe. The great thing is that GT takeoffs are cheap, cheap, cheap. I got both of mine for $50 + shipping on Ebay. I see that New Takeoff Parts (www.newtakeoff.com) has them too. You could order the pair, install one yourself and decide if you like it. If you decide to install both you could then pay for the H-pipe.

I recommend FRPP (sounds great, great kit)

Borla is good also...

GT take-offs are nice also.

I picked up a set of Pypes violaters used locally and had only one installed for now to see how I like them. So far the one is nice and loud but does drone a bit. The cars sounds more like a ferarri then a mustang with these in my opinion but I do like it. Iam sure once the true duals are on it in a month or so it may sound a bit different but thats the chance we take.

I recently installed dual Boomtubes. They sound awesome with little drone. My V6 does not sound like a V6 at all. I'll work on getting a sound clip recorded and post it on here. I think you'd be happy with it. Ordered mine from:
