Default Would an 8.8 w/ T-lok work on '05 V6?

Long story short, I shot my differential to death and would like to have it replaced (and upgraded) instead of bleeding my savings dry for "repairs."

Looking at a GT take-off 8.8 rear end: http://www.newtakeoff.com/mustang_gt...ion_flang.aspx

Would this simply bolt onto a 2005 V6 without anything other than this? I found a DYI on Mustang Collective, but I'm under of what that user started with.

Thanks! Wouldn't be able to grab the flange off my old differential would I? We're talking about the pinion flange, which connects to the drive shaft, correct?

the end connecting the drive line is different but other than that the GT rear end swap is a good option. I would recommend getting one with 3.73 or 4.10 gears already installed.

Good idea, probably go with 3.73s. I'm probably not going to be anywhere near a drag strip.

What's the parts specifically do I need to order though? Only the pinion flange?

Other than the pinion flange it is a direct swap. You need the cobra flange - the part number should be in the write up over at the Collective. Be careful swapping the flange though, you want to be sure to get the torque right - I decided to let the professional handle that swap for me so that it would be preloaded correctly.

Just checked the new take off site, and here is the flange you need:
http://www.newtakeoff.com/mustang_05...on_flange.aspx

And I also double checked because I thought they sold the 8.8 with the flange already installed for a direct swap, this is the 8.8 with 3.73 and the flange already installed:

Thanks you two, I just found out however that newtakeoff.com only ships to business addresses... so that's a no go. My car is a friend's house, who is a mechanic, but not a place of business nor does he own a shop. v6mustangstuff.com seems to have it though:

Quote:
GT 8.8 Rear Axle Assembly 2005-2009 w/ABS w/Trac-Loc

These are takeoff rear axle assemblies from new 06/07 GT's. They were removed from cars with less than 20 miles on them. This rear axle has the "Cobra Pinion Flange" that will allow direct bolt on for a Mustang V6 '05-'09. If your buying it for a GT please let us know.
Also looking at Americanmuscle.com, I'm not sure if it's really necessary to buy a complete rear end with the left and right axles?

I'm thinking I only need the differential, gears, and pinion flange. I could use my existing axles correct?

Are you sure that newtakeoff only ships to a business address? They truck shipped to my home address last year for $165.00 and it took all of 2 days. If you haven't already I would give them a call and ask why. Yes, the 8.8 is a very easy install.
