Did the band snap or did the sensor slide around the inside of the rim still attached to the band? Was this on the OE rim? Was the adhesive pad still in good shape? Details and pics, man! Details and pics!

So, I'm still trying to figure out the "... sensor falls off..." scenario. Not sure if we all try to guess what the failure mode was. I'm curious since I'd like to know what to expect in the event my balance on these GT500 takeoffs ever gives me grief.

Here are my guesses:
  1. sensor comes loose from mounting plate, sensor rattling around inside tire
  2. sensor and mounting plate come loose from adhesive and slides on band
  3. sensor and mounting plate come loose from adhesive and loose band flopping around rim with sensor and mounting plate along for the ride
  4. you have an '05 or '06 with NO TPMS and the shop was just giving you an excuse to charge you

  3. sensor and mounting plate come loose from adhesive and slides on band

Maybe he had some after market tires/rims installed improperly.
