Default Dual Exhaust Conversion Kit Install & Comments

Had a pair of GT takeoffs (mt) and installed one on the PS a while ago. Wanted to get the dual look and mellow more dispersed sound. Bought the Ninosport V6 Dual Conversion Kit.

http://www.ninosport.com/Ninosport-D...5-p/nsv605.htm

First let me say, it looks good and sounds just like I expected and wanted. Mellow with a nice throat, no drone and very dispersed sound from inside the car. Much improvement over the single GT muffler I had before. Now that being said the fitment of this "kit" was horrid! Took me and my brother 5 hrs of fitment time ALONE. That's not including the 3 hours of tear out and dry hanging the new pipes. The supplied splitter "y" pipe was not formed correctly, the DS leg was 1.5" too long and the DS muffler would not even fit under the car. Had to reform the spread of the legs of the "Y" and cut 1.5" off the DS leg. The Over Axle pipes were not formed right either and we had to "tweak" the hanger pins on both mufflers to enable them to lay correctly in the cutouts. Finally got the system on with the clearances needed on the body, suspension, and gas tanks. Road tested and zero vibrations, rattles, banging, etc.

I used the Pypes template for the DS cutout and it was SPOT ON in shape and placement. Cut it with a dremmel with a cutting wheel on it. Looks 100% factory.

I am 42, my brother is 57. We have put on many exhaust kits and this was a real Be-otch! In my view, stay away from this if your interested in the dual conversion. I have read a couple of other reviews that said they did not have that many problems....I wish I had gotten their kits!

On a side note. This was my first time dealing with Ninosport. Not great communication.....they back-ordered it and did not inform me, until I called. They did not send the promised shipping notifications, and they dropped shipped the hangers in a separate shipment - 2 days after the pipes and did not inform me of that either - until I called. I rated this product on their website, so it will be interesting to see if it shows. I have dealt with AM quite a bit, and this was not that type of dealings.

This is not meant to be a Rant, I just wanted to share my experiences, as if I would have read something like this prior to ordering, I would not have.

wow, that sucks. I haven't had any issues like that with ninosport, I actually am very happy with them. But somebody has to have bad experiences with vendors, sorry it had to be you. As far as the fitment goes, wow! I put on a borla conversion kit, the only problem I had was needing to cut the existing pipes back just a little further. Other than that it just went right on. Are you thinking that your kit was just a dud from the factory or is it the kit itself?

How does it sound with the Y pipe instead of an X or H crossover?

Prob just my turn on the dealing with Ninosport, as I have not heard any complaints while surfing the boards. As for the kit, I have not heard that bad of reviews on it either, so that's why I went with it....may have been an isolated case....buy Why Me !!

I love the sound. I was not looking for anything harsh or LOUD! So its a nice mellow rumble at idle and a decent note outside the car on acceleration. With the "Y" of the car joined by about 6"-8" of straight pipe to the "Y" of the kit, it essentially creates a modified X pipe, sort of. No drone inside the car. Supposed to be about 68 degrees out tomorrow, so I will drop the top and get a feel for it with it down. I am really happy with the sound and the looks just a rough time to get there.

I see what you mean about the modified X, but with that length of straight pipe it is really just a Y, a piece of straight, and another Y. For an X pipe to work ideally the common spot in the X needs to be a certian ratio to the pipe size. The aerodynamics of two Ys aren't the same as the X. A lot of kits go that route, and they work fine, but that is what I found out while researching for my exhaust a while back.

And what it comes down to it if you like the sound and looks, then it really doesn't matter if it has a "Z" pipe.

I see what you mean on the X vs Y configuration. I did get a chance today to follow the car in traffic. Just the sound I was looking for.

From what I have read there is not much performance difference between Y X or H?.....is that correct? The difference is basically sound?

Just getting rid of the restrictive V6 muffler some weeks ago changed the way the car performed. I have not noticed any gain from the duals, and really did not expect to.

As far as performance goes the X & H are better than 2 Ys, but on our cars it isn't a huge deal. There is a difference in sound between them though. The difference isn't that big either because of the even firing order of our 4.0s.

But if you like it while inside the car and following behind, then deffinetly don't change a thing. A lot of people go through a few different setups before finding one that they like.
