Default IGNITION COIL PACK bad again????

My wife has a 2005 V6 and 1 month ago her check engine light came out. So I took it to ford and said it was the coil pack so I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts and bought a new one. Its been 3 weeks running great and the light came back on and had the tested again and had the same code again that the IGNITION COIL was bad again. So I took it back and replaced it again with another new one and its doing the same thing again in less then 24 hours. Sorry I dont have the code they gave with me I left it at home thinking this was fixed till the wife called me. Ford and Autozone said the samething it being the IGNITION COIL PACK.
I do hope Im naming this part right. grin.

I really dont know what to do at this point if it could be the plugs or wires it only has 30K. I thought about going back to O'Reilly Auto Parts and seeing if I could get a refund and take the money and go to ford and buy one from them is case its O'Reilly parts. However have a hard time thinking that it.

BTW if/when i change the plugs are they pretty easy to change on the V6? They look easy to get to, the reason I ask they did a bad job on the 2005 F150 and known to break in the heads.

What would you guys do next, Id appericate any input!
Thanks!

Well, I really dont know much to tell you in the way of the coil pack. I would deffinitly take the one back to Oreillys and see if could get my money back. As much as I would hate to take my car to the Stealer, I mean Dealer I think I would in this case.

As for changing the plugs, you should be fine, the V6s use regular plugs unlike the screwed up design ford has for the V8s

Thanks for the reply and your right on the Stealer part! Being Christmas time is not a good time to have to take it to them or anytime for that matter.

Im thinking maybe seeing if I could get a refund and maybe buy a new one from ford before I have to bend over and let the Stealers look at it.

"I went to O'Reilly Auto Parts"
seems to have answered your own
question unbeknownst to yourself.
Screamin' Demon Coil FTW.

BTW, Is this the item all the coil wires go into?

Well I thought O'Reilly would of been better then Auto Zone parts! LOL

"question unbeknownst to yourself.
Deamon Coil FTW"

Not sure what that means?

"BTW, Is this the item all the coil wires go into"
yes the plug wires plug into this and the other end goes to each plug.

Looks like this here:

Oreally or the zonner or Peppy boys or much
else for that matter is aftermarket and made
by the same manufacturer, and relabeled for
sale.

I've never had much luck with ignition or electronic controls from oriely.
Look around for a taken-off coil pack in the for sale section, someone is bound to have a good one for sale. Post up in the WTB section. I'll be selling mine later this month when I yank out the engine.
Or get one from Ford.

BTW, the plugs aren't hard to change, just be careful pulling of and then putting back on the plug wires. You wont have the same problems as the longer plugs in the 3V engines.

When a couple of my stock plugs went bad (wore out electrodes after 20-25K miles), it threw no codes, but just didnt run very good, like missing at all speeds and at idle.

If you are wearing out electrodes on plugs designed to go 100K miles,
something is wrong thats burning electrodes.
Electrodes dont just burn away for no good reaSON.
rUNNING A LITTLE TOO LEAN, MAYBE?

I went back to O'Reilly Auto Parts and they were nice enough to give me a refund and going to go buy one from FORD today and install it this weekend.

Im hoping this will fix it and just be bad/cheap parts from O'Reilly.

Thanks for the info on the plugs I just wanted to know incase I had to change them for some odd reason.

I'll post back later with my results on the new one i install from Ford.

Thanks Again!

That's good they gave you a refund. Most times on electrical parts they just tell you that you are SOL.
