I was just reading over some of the post about issues with the 2 piece driveshafts for the 4.0. We drive our car to florida at least 2 times a year. I know the fail is around 118 mph. I never even come close to those speeds but I was wondering if prolonged stretches in the mid 80mph would be a problem? My speed limiter and rev limiter are still set. I was just wondering due to the frequency of trips we take to florida and it being a 12-16 hour highway drive depending on where we go, should I be concerned about the driveshaft failing on us? We have about 70k miles on it.

You will be fine... Everybody has blown that driveshaft thing completely out of proportion. The only 2005-2010 V6 driveshaft I have heard of grenading real time is afixer's which blew up on a dyno at like 130-140mph I believe. It is mainly with the 2005s that did not have retaining pins on the yolk and they could back out.

+1 on being fine. The dynamic forces increase exponentially as rotational speed increases. Even at sustained speeds of about 110 MPH it would be fine.

I wont be hitting 110 but who knows I may see 90 a few times
