Transmission Swap
#12
1. You have to run 4:10 gears because the transmission is geared very tall.
2. You have to run a GT500 driveshaft (aftermarket aluminum).
3. You have to have a custom 26 spline clutch disk made.
4. You have to use a GT500 shifter.
5. You have to purchase the adapter kit.
6. You have to get it all installed if you can't DIY.
The results however are absolutely phenomenal!

What else would we need with this kit?

2. 4:10 differential gears.
3. Clutch with 26 spline hub on disk.
You can purchase that kit from D&D without the driveshaft. I would recommended getting a driveshaft custom made by Shaftmasters for your application. This way you know it will fit correctly with what ever pinion flange your differential has without using an adapter which can cause vibration.

I made the parts myself and did the install myself. I had to pay for the transmission, crossmember, shifter, clutch, driveshaft, gears and materials. Nearly $5000 total.
If you need a stronger transmission but the GT500 TR6060 6-Speed is to much you can do a GT TR3650 5-Speed for a lot less using the same adapter I made for the TR6060 6-Speed. It would not necessarily need gears. It would not need a new cross member, clutch and can use any driveshaft made for a GT.
