Door Speaker Issue.

Door Speaker Issue.
I have an 06 V6 with 48,000 miles and the stock shaker 500. The passenger side door speaker go in and out of sounding fine to no sound at all.
It started out as just having some background static and cutting in and out periodically but over the course of a week it has now degraded to producing 0 sound about 95% of the time.
When I set the balance completely to that one side I can still hear/feel the bass coming through on the 8in door sub so my initial thought was just that the door speaker went bad. However, since it randomly goes back to working fine (for not more than 5 seconds) I have a feeling that it might actually be the amp that is causing the issue.
What do you guys think? Any suggestions on troubleshooting/fixes?

borrow ANY sized speaker (that you know works!) from someone, take apart the door panel, just connect the new speaker (no reason to mount it in door other than maybe putting in one screw/zip tie to hold it up) turn on radio, if it works fine, then you will know your speaker is broken. It sounds to me like the tweeter is goin out because it cuts in and out and still has bass.
Check speaker connections while removing your stock speaker, they could have come loose, but unlikely.
