I bought off eBay a 7.5 Ford LSD carrier, reconditioned with new plates out of a 2002 Ranger, and new set of 3:73 FRPP gears for under 180 with 3 shim pkgs to set it up and a pinion seal. The install was nothing special (I've done numerous rear differential installs). The Mustang is wide open, nothing in the way to hamper your working on it. Getting the pinion depth to side play to give you a good clean reading, takes a fair amount of shims to come up with the correct settings. Put one in, take some out on the other side, and on and on. You'll finally get your pattern you want. It can take time if you've never done it before.

You must not of read the ad fully. It states the item is not available and discontinued. I missed it at the first read myself.

I tried to find an 8.8 up here in Alaska. Nothing to be had. Tried to order from the lower 48 and the best freight rate I could get was over 450. Add the 450 plus the 800 I found for the 8,8 w/3:73's and that 1250 bucks is quite a bit for a rear diff. I check recently if there were any Mustang's in the wrecking yards, but still none. I found a wrecked Shelby, but the rearend was twisted. It's really hard to find Mustang parts in Alaska. There are so many parts available from Florida and Tennessee, but not up here. Makes it tough to get anything and do it affordable to the wallet.

Looked for 8.8, no dice. Found a shop I thought finally gave me a good price on installing 4.1s and the LSD, 550$. After 7 hours I called them and was told they need to air chisel the front bearing, and had been doing so for hours. Car won't even be close to ready until Monday... man my ahole hurts from being reamed...
