Sad Day
So about a month ago I was driving to school and an allied waste truck hit a pot hole and shot gravel at the hood of my car. Put several nicks in the paint. I bought some touch up paint and I have put 2 coats on. Should I put more on and apply some clear coat? Any constructive advice would be great thanks!

You probably want to ask pascal since he's in the business. But from my experiences, you'll never get it to look right with touchup unless you can properly prep, paint and blend each area. Just my 2 cents...

^+1 to nuke. Depending on how the scratches look, and how deep they got you might need professional work done. Do you have road hazard insurance? If this should happen again, and I pray it doesn't, I think you should stop at the scene and when the police arrive let them know the damage to your car. They might whine about making a report about it, but you might be able to get your deductible back because it was the other person's fault.
Post some pics of the damage if you can, so Pascal and other experienced members can judge the severity better.

MY EXPERIENCE-
When dicking around with paint and whatnot, unless you are a professional, you are just as likely to make it worse than make it better.
This summer I put a scratch in the pillar begind the passenger side window. Took it to a body shop, $400. Tried to fix it myself w touchup paint and the turtlewax kit, made it look worse, $1000 to have the shop fix it right. Would up using a powered by ford emblem instead, $56, although I doubt you could do that on the hood
