Default auto trans rollback when on a hill

I've owned 7 stangs with AT. I've never had one that if stopped at a light going uphill, AT won't hold and the car. It will roll backwards with foot off the brake almost like it was a manual trans with the clutch pushed in. I got a 07 V6.
Is this normal with AT's in Fords these days?

Thks,

I think it depends how steep the hill is. A slight hill should be no problem for auto trans to hold you. Any steeper, and it will roll back. All my auto cars have been like that.

^ +1. Slight hills with my 09 V6 are no problem. I go to something fairly steep, I'll start to creep. No worries.

I've heard it to be true from someone else online. I just don't understand why that is. As I said, I've never had a Ford that did this before.

P.S.- I bought this car used about 15 months ago.

Didn't most cars idle speeds take you up to like 10mph before on an automatic? These days it's under 5mph.

what I mean is if you take your foot off the gas you can only get up to 5mph idling in gear these days.

Default idle

That goes back a lot of years for me, but I remember around 8000 rpm as being the standard on all the Mustangs I've had.
