Default New Tires Questions

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy some new tires for my 07 V6.

Currently my wheel size is 19x8.5 all around and my current tire size is 245/40 zr19. If I kept the same wheel size, can anyone recommend some sticky tires that would help my performance?

My current thinking is Perelli P-Zero Nero tires. Any thoughts?

The P-Zero's are a so-so tire but are ok if you don't have much power to worry about hooking up with, especially with those power-robbing 19's on the 4.0. As long as you're not going to the track or Motor-X and you don't have a super-lead foot, IMO the P-Zero's are a reasonable tire for the price. I know a lot of folks will disagree but not everyone needs a very sticky tire. Being in TX, you can get decent traction with the P-Zero max performance summer tire line.

How are the 19" wheels power robbing? I don't quite understand that.

Currently I have:
S&B CAI
SuperChips 91 Octane Tune
Pypes True Dual Exhaust

The larger the wheel, then typically the heavier. This equates to a larger rotating mass and increases drive line losses. It's not much but it's that much more work to turn 'em.

On an unrelated note, you'll see more power with a good custom tune than you get with your "Superchip". Chips are for eating. We retune our PCM's.

Dude, they're 19 inch wheels. The stock 16" wheels on 27lbs and my higher quality 19" wheels are 26lbs per. There should be less weight rather than more.

Any recommendations on tires?

in nukes defense, your wheels are and exception then because most larger rims are going to be heavier, unless forged or something of that nature.

i have nitto 555's and love them. i autox and do track days with them. i know they arent the stickiest tire but theyre great for my power level and have lasted me a long time.
