Rebuild engine/tranny question
Got a newbie question here for the big dogs. I am doing my first swap out my 2005 V6 motor with 200k on it with a used one with only 60k on it. I had the transmission overhauled while it was out and it got a new torque converter. The marks I made on the torque converter and flywheel are not good anymore. So my question is how do I line/match up a new torque converter and new flywheel?? Does it matter?? Thanks for helping out the FNG!!

Dont worry about it, does not matter. Make sure the converter "clicks in" 3 times into the transmission before mating the trans to the motor. Bolt the converter up to the flexplate, after the trans is bolted to the motor; there should be about 1/8" of space between the flexplate and the converter once the trans is bolted up to the motor.
MAKE SURE THE CONVERTER IS ALL THE WAY IN OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE TRANS PUMP.
In my experience, I've found it easier to bolt up the trans to the motor, and secure the 4 converter bolts, while it's all out of the car, then put the engine/trans back in together as one unit.
