Think I might pick one of these up. Don't want it bursting while I am on track or going to a track day. Has anyone done a good install write up yet (with pix preferably)?

I'm a newer member who doesn't post much, and I wanted to thank you guys for the advice and help I've received just from reading through some of the threads, this one being the latest example of that. I'm definitely going to look this fella up and purchase one of these. I had no idea this faulty part was on my car. Thanks again.

I bought one after my second, Auto Zone, thermo housing burst; back in 10/2013... Came in perfect condition, no flashing to file off and clean. It's still holding up great, nice and dry, and that's after many WOT pulls on the HWY (that's when my old plastic ones gave up the ghost; I think the high water pressure at WOT was blowing them apart)...

If you don't have one in your V6 now, get one! Even if your not leaking at this moment; the price you pay is worth the piece of mind that you won't get stuck 20 miles from home in BFE with your plastic housing pissing at you!

I am not a mechanic or do-it-yourself, but on my way to my volunteer job the other morning, steam was pouring out of the engine hood and steam trailing behind doing 55. I looked at the temp guage and was okay. I was only 1/2 mile from the local VA parking lot where I volunteer. AAA towed my car to my local mechanics garage 4 miles away. This happened after 8-1/2 years of driving everyday with now 130,000 miles. My mechanic replaced both stats and hoses for $232.00 plus tax. He wiped down the engine compartment too. This fix should be good for another 8+years which is a pretty long time for me. I drive year round with snow/salt season too. The vehicle is a tank with 4 Blizzak snow tires.

I highly recommend anyone with a 4.0 v6 get this. You don't want to be stuck on the side of the road due to a cracked plastic housing.
