Default Need new spark plug wires.

I'd like to get a new set of plug wires for my 4.0 (orig. factory still in at 75,000 mi), and I'm looking for same size/diameter wires so I can use factory wire looms. Same size but either blue or red. Any suggestions? And what is the MM size of my factory wires?

Bump? Anyone bought after market wires and liked them?

They're not blue or red but I have Taylor Street Thunder 8mm wires that I like real well. They fit in the factory looms. Got them from American Muscle.

OK, thx for the info. That's what I'm looking for, factory size wires. 8MM is the size...now I need the color. If I'm going to replace them, I need a wow factor as well as solid performers.

Maybe even a new coil. I like the Accel yellow. Good brand too.

I have not personally had experience with the aftermarket coils, but it seems that the general consensus is to stick with the oem motorcraft coil because the aftermarket ones tend to give problems much sooner down the road. By no means am I trying to persuade you, but just something you might want to search about more.

OK...good advise. It is running well right now, but I understand plug wires do wear out slowly and impede the spark some.

I bought my factory replacement plug wires, at NAPA Auto Parts, at 75K miles, just because. My local Ma Pa garage did the labor to replace for $25.00+ Tax.

New Motorcraft spark plugs were installed at 110K miles and local garage, where I have work done, told me there was no need to replace the coils. So, I didn't. Cost labor and parts: $80.00+ tax for spark plug replacement. Have 127K now.

I have the street thunder wires and didn't notice a difference, but didn't expect to anyhow. I just used them as an OEM replacement. Stick with the stock coil, its plenty efficient.

Thanks guys for the advise. I'll stick with the stock coil and still going to get colored plug wires. will post pics when done.
