They're brand new GT mufflers? Not GTB or GTA mufflers right?

I bought mine used so I had no break in experiences but not a significant amount of drone at any point either.

So you're sure you're not rubbing anywhere? Did they add hangers to the H pipe?

Nevermind about the breaking in, my mufflers are certainly used. I went to Midas yesterday and we noticed the left muffler was hanging up against the body. We quickly took care of that but the drone is still there. I could maybe say it's a little better, but barely. Maybe it's because I'm getting used to the drone. They didn't add hangers to the H.

Hmm, I really don't know here. I know some people run pipes without hangers at the X/H and others do. Mine has hangers at the H pipe, then hangers at the muffler and that's it.

Have you gotten underneath it and checked for any loose piping or anything that could rattle at that RPM? You could be getting drone because around 2-3K you're hitting a resonant frequency and something is shaking itself apart.

X-pipe produces the least drone. I still get a little right at 1500 rpm. Got my whole kit from NTO,, but I think they've sold out of them now....

x-pipe sounds like a bee hive, especially if using no cats or high-flow cats.

+1, but then again not much sounds good on a 4.0 without cats...

Thanks for this post! I have GT takeoffs that I bought and I'm planning on having them installed this spring. So this post is proving very helpful to me!

1 question...

M/T take-offs or Auto tranny take-offs?
There is a BIG difference in-between the two...

The auto muff on the left looks like it is clenching
its sphincter muscle.

That's my experience as well.
And 157db is right, different trannies go with different mufflers.

I have no drone on my car, none. But I simply made a Y past the cats...
In other words the single tube is connected to a Y going back to the dual system and I run GTA axle backs.
It was a cheap an efficient way for me to go dual on that thing

I would love to see a pic of your reverse Y pipe for your exhaust.
