Default Humming/Whine Sound From Engine

I am getting a humming sound, it almost sounds like an RC car accelerating. This happens between 5-25mph, once I am up to speed it stops. It did not used to make that sound until about a month ago. Anybody have the same issue? Its pretty annoying and hopefully it doesn't mean something is crapping out under the hood. Thanks!

If it's whining it knows my ex-wife. If it's humming it doesn't know the words...

Is this sound coming from under the hood, under the car or from the rear?

I'm pretty sure it's under the hood, could be under the car. It's definitely not from the rear. Possibly could be because it's so cold?

From your description; 5-25 mph then goes away; it's difficult to diagnose. Could be the fan clutch, a pulley issue.... most anything without more info and troubleshootiing.

Get a auto stethoscope (Harbor Freight) and search around under the hood for noise. Particularly the alternator, or pwr steering pump. Road noise might mask the noise above 25 mph. Check fluid level in pwr steering pump.

Whatever the problem is/was it hasn't made that sound the last couple days that the weather has been in the 50's instead of below 20. I'll keep my ear open down the road. I read another thread after some deep searching that it could be the belt tensioner which I am going to check out.
