Default Purchased a 8.8 GT rear end.

So yesterday i was able to pick up a 8.8 GT Rear end out of a manual with TLOK and the 3.55 gears. Got it for less than 200.00 and Low Miles. Which as far as i was reading is a GREAT deal. I know I need a 03/04 cobra flange. My Question is how hard is it to change out the flange? I am fairly mechanically inclined, I just never have done it before and was wondering if it is something i can do myself or just go to a shop.

Congrats on the purchase! You're going to love the new rear end. Post pictures when you're done with it.

I took mine to a shop, as I had the rear completely rebuilt. From my understanding, the cobra flange is a fairly direct to put on. There are plenty of videos you can look up that will show how easy it is.

I'll tell you like someone on here told me. Before you install it, you should give it a quick paint job. It really cleans up the look underneath.

Going from that:

To this makes a little bit of a difference.

I went to my local autoparts store and picked up a couple of cans of Rustoleum. Not sure if that's the correct paint to use, but I haven't had any issues with it.

When swapping the flange you just have to be careful to re-torque the nut to the same spec it was previously so you don't alter the pinion depth which is controlled by a crush sleeve.

Please let me know if you need any help rounding up any parts, we've got the best prices on OEM and FRPP parts and I've been working with you guys on the forums for quite a long time.

We have the Cobra pinion flange in stock for $23.10 plus shipping and if you decide you want any other seals or bearings during the swap we can help with those as well.
