so we hit 99 yesterday. i do not enjoy sticking to my seats.
after some research, it sounds as if my ac switch is my issue. blower works, all vents work, its just piping hot air. the little indicator lights up, but my compressor isnt turning on.
does anyone know if this is a complex fix? i cant find any sort of 'how to' on this subject. the parts only 30$ but if i have to rip open my dash or electrocute myself im a little concerned

Maybe a stupid question, but have you verified you have a full charge of Freon?

i havent only because i figured if the compressor wasnt switching on, it had to be related to that

I'm not positive about Mustangs, but most AC units have a low pressure cutoff for the compressor.

what Bitter said. there's a pressure switch in the A/C lines which will prevent the compressor from running if you lose the refrigerant.

as usual, everyone is right but me. threw in a can and it works, just not as icy as i remember.

cos it's probably still low on refrigerant and it has a leak so the system never fully pressurizes when 'on'... get the leak fixed, problem solved.

I'm glad you got it sorted out without needlessly spending the money on a switch that would not have solved the problem. Those cans of refrigerant seem like the inexpensive way to go and I'm sure they are for some. As for me, I tried it and the needle was bouncing so wildly that I actually over pressurized it. In the long run, I paid the higher "one price fits all" to actually have a mechanic take refrigerant out. It now works fine, so in the long run it was worth the price.
