Default Best Clutch for 2008 Mustang

I am a noob when it comes to clutches.

I recently bought 2008 V6 Mustang and it came with a Hurst shifter.

I notice that when I try to accelerate hard that the RPM's rev fairly high and it doesn't feel like the car is moving any faster. This seems to happen from 2nd to 5th gear.

However if I accelerate reasonably the clutch seems to work and the car moves pretty well.

I'm assuming the clutch is going out?

If I were to have to buy a clutch system which would be the best clutch to buy? And would it adapt to the Hurst Shifter?

It does sound like the clutch to me as well. The clutch and the shifter are separate almost unrelated parts, so you can get any clutch that fits the engine/transmission combo. Check American Muscle(forum discount) or other retailers and find the clutch you want. Most brands are going to be about the same from your point of view. Unless you are racing you will want a stock replacement clutch or at most a stage 1 clutch, but be prepared for some slight drivability issues... on the stage 1 clutch I had most people had trouble not stalling the car when driving.

I have the Spec stage 1 clutch kit I got from American Muscle as well as the Spec Aluminum flywheel. I have had no issues either mechanically or drivability.

Spec makes good clutches, I had one on my 4.0 and liked it

Since my son drives the car I haven't been paying attention to the clutch but after driving it today it seems the clutch is worse than before.
I'm looking at Luk clutch kit #07202 at RockAuto. It comes with new clutch, disc, release bearing, pilot bearing (where required), spline tool and lubricant. It says flywheel included. The cost is $247.79.

I'm wondering if after I buy the kit if there is a chance that only one part is bad?

I ordered the Luk clutch kit from RockAuto for $280 which includes the flywheel. My bet is that the flywheel is refurbished and not new.
I called two different shops that i trust and got a quote of $450 and $350 for labor only. The $450 place is about 1 mile from my house and the $350 place is 25 miles away.

I got the Luk clutch kit installed last week.

The hardest part was finding someone I could trust to do the job right the first time.

So far the Mustang is shifting great. The mechanic did say that the Hurst shifter (installed by previous owner) needed some insulation installed.

I had asked in an earlier thread, did not get a single response (thought I had made some sort of forum faux paus, lol). Does anyone do their own or is this simply one for the experts?

I did a lot of reading and watching youtube videos. I usually do my own work but the reason I let a veteran mechanic install mine was 1) It was cold outside and 2) I'm too old to lay on my back for extended periods.
