Back to stock intake and tune!
#11
I took the CAI off, returned the car to the stock air intake and tuning, and the problem went away. I drove it for a week like this, and it has not had the problem again. Last weekend, I put the original set of tunes i got with the tuner (pre CAI), and the car still has not shown any signs of a down rev. I do not understand it but the problems were introduced when I put the CAI on, and of course, the tuning - but they have worked with me for a long time with different tunes to get it working, and it has not. So, we went back to the starting point.

What CAI is that, and what tuner did you get? I agree, my car was VERY responsive with the CAI and tune...

C&L Cold Air Intake & custom tune. Installing the 4.11 gears was a major improvement in the fun to drive factory. I got the gears & T-Loc assembly out of an Aerostar minivan for only $50 from my local junk yard. With the 4.11 gears my city mpg improved my 3mpg & I only lost 1-2mpg on the hwy.

My 45 minute commute is both highway and city.... a combo of both, at different points along the way. I'll have to think about the gear thing. I think the majority would be city so I would probably get better all around mileage. Is the 4.11 gearing just the 2 gears in the rear diff?

Ford Racing 4.10 Gears (05-10 V6)

I actually had 4.10 gears not 4.11. 4.11 gears is what I put in my 500hp 383ci stroker 1999 Suburban.
I would highly recommend getting a posi or T-Loc to go along with the 4.10 gears.
