Default Back to stock intake and tune!

Well, after almost a year of trying new tunes, datalogging, and trying different things, it was agreed to take my 06 4.0 v6 back to the stock air cleaner. I actually went back to the stock programming also, this is to verify that the problems I was having was either directly related to the CAI or not. I drove it today and my gosh... what a dog! I always thought my car was fun to drive before buying the SCT tuner, but even with the problem, the car was SO responsive. I promised I'd drive it this way for a few days to verify, but OMG... I was at a stoplight and wanted to get around a truck and it seemed like I was dragging something this morning, lol!

if you haven't tuned your Stang I would recommend you try it!

even in its stock tune the car shouldn't be a dog as the CAI and Tune is not going to make that much of a drastic difference. What issues are you having, it may be linked to why you feel it is such a dog now.

Brother... this car runs fine but with tuning has better throttle response than it ever has. The tune makes a BIG difference. Dog might be a bit drastic but there is a BIG difference. I do not remember the CAI doing much more but without the CAI and the tune, wow. I guess you'd have to drive it both ways to feel it.

I believe the only real advantage of the CAI was is sounded better. I'm not racing so I'll probably never get the full CAI advantage... but is sounds good.

On our 2006 V6 Mustang we did the CAI, tune, true dual exhaust with X-pipe & 4.11 gears. 1st->2nd & 2nd->3rd shifts would pitch the car sideways. Very impressive below 80mph. It had more off the line pep than my 2013 GT does.
