05 Mustang V6 How to supercharge cheap?
Hey guys I'm new to this forum. I have a 2005 v6 mustang and I want more power! I only have a cold air intake so far but I'm planing on a supercharger but I want to get it cheap. Like under 3k for the kit or to make my own kit I can install it myself but what are the parts I need besides the charger? Also I'm not sure if its safe to supercharge a car with 97,000 miles?! How much boost can I safely run? And what type of charger and I looking for? Anything helps and sorry if this type of thread was already made.

If the car has been properly maintained no problem with installing one at 97,000 miles. The 4.0 is a tough engine. I ran a 75 shot of nitrous for 2 years and at 99,000 miles pulled the nitrous and installed the Xcharger Xtreme on my 2006. When I sold it with 203,000 miles on it in June 2012 it was still running mid 12's. That car has over 250,000 miles on it, and is still running strong.
As far as cheap - look for a used kit. They come up in the classified section sometimes.

Neither of those will fit the V6. Supercharger options for the V6 are Xcharger (which is CARB certified and comes from a California company xplorer xpress), the Vortech, or the Procharger.

I think Vortech is the least expensive

you may be able to shop around for a better price.
I have that kit and put it on my car at 200k miles

Keep in mind, it's not just upfront costs!
A supercharger cteates so much compression in the cylinders you'll be required to use Premium gas too.
Anything less will cause pinging (preignition) which sucks power and can damage the engine.
