The type of motor has NOTHING to do with it.

All we really need is someone to make a dammed 4.6 head that can be ported to flow over 300 CFM. The best ported 4.6 head out there won't outflow a stock LS1 head. That is the problem.

The first company to do this for the 4.6 and 5.4 engines will make truckloads of money. But nobody wants to take the chance.

I agree 2000GT, its kinda sad they don't make heads for you guys, but being that they don't, you'll get a lot more power out of a cam swap and head job from a pushrod than a modular, at least to my studying and reading..look at all the beasts from the late 60's early 70's..all pushrod engines with big cams..maybe i'm just being naive..i dont know

You got that right. My cousin has LS1. A stage 3 head for a mustang won't flow as much as a stock LS1 head. That and compression is where the power is.

If Camaros and Firebirds are so good why don't they still make them. I will almost bet money there isn't a single, modern v6 that makes more torque than HP. 260hp 302 ft/lbs. That's all I would say. HP is based on Torque. Torque is what throws you back in the seat and gets the adrenaline pumping.
Prolly not but I think he meant faster. Most of the 4/6 bangers that are as fast as GT's weigh a WHOLE lot less

Here is an idea. What kind of fuel economy do the camaros get?

Compare it to the mustang. I like how if I drive conservatively I can make the v8 in my GT get good milage.

I do want to know the MPG of the big 350 equipped camaros.

I think where ford went with the mustang engines is where overall trends are going, more fuel efficiency. They chose that over performance, you can't have extreme performance with efficiency, unless you are God.

They found a comfortable medium, the 4.6 is a relatively small V8 and packs a good punch for it's size. Not many v8s can get 30mpg highway or close to it, and a few moments later light um up 0-60 in a heartbeat.

I totally know what you are talkin about, I wish I had the ass in my gt that the LS1s have, but I dont, and Ive kind learned to accept that. Theres a kid in my class that talks mad crap about to me about how his camaro, and I know that hell always have the advantage over me as long as hes putting money in it. Take for instance code3's car...its amazing, and Id love to have it, but imagine doing everything he did to his to an LS1...no comparison....but perhaps were comparing apples to oranges on this subject...I feel that the important part is that were all mustang guys...we know where we stand..and no matter what were stickin to what we like, no matter how fast or slow it may be.....ok, Hallmark moments over...

that's why I don't generally like to compare my car to other types of cars. I just like to think of how I can make it better within it's own world.

I know my car is never ganna be the fastest out there, but I eventually want to make it quick and make it unique and make it mine.

I couldnt agree more...Id love my care the same if it ran 18s...but Im still gonna try to get as much out of it as I could, thats my goal, not to be the fastest on the street..thatll never happen, thats why Im not even worried about that douchebag in my class....all he does is say mustangs are overrated and there a dime a dozen and his car would kill mine...he brags about goin 12.90s...I just say I really dont care how fast he is and furthermore almost 13s in a camaro isnt very impressive...that usually gets him steamed...lol
