I believe it is either a 2 or 4 gauge for the wire. I do not have mine in the trunk because i will be racing and I dont want to make a cutoff switch for it.

well for the cut-off switch I'm just going to mount it where the tail light sits, when not in use I'll just plug it up, 2 or 4 doesn't that seem kind of small doesn't voltage drop with distance??? please educate me, btw where is your battery located of not in your trunk?

My battery is in my trunk. It is a red top optima and I used 2 gauge wire. I think 2 gauge wire is $1.88 a foot at Advance Auto Parts. I used 17 feet to connect the battery to the original positive cable, and then I got a 30" or something ground wire from Advance and went through the trunk grommet and connected it to the frame.

I don't have pics yet. I'm gonna finish my homemade rear seat delete and then post pics.

I used 1/0 welder cable cause its better then battery cable, and its softer.

For the guy that used 17 feet of cable what the hell did you wire up-- A semi truck, man thats a lot of cable to run for a mustang

Sounds like a lot, but I used every bit of it! It started where the battery originally was, went through the firewall grommet, down the driver side kick panel, underneath the driver door sill, across where the back seat was to the passenger side, up into the trunk and to the battery.

How much did you use and how did you route it?
