Default If you were to swap trannies?

I have a 96 gt auto and the transmission is about done. I have a far about of upgrades done and have plans for a supercharge someday. If you were to swap trannies what would you do? I'm wonder what would be the best manual trans for me. Budget is a bit of a concern seeing as i'm in school. Any input from you guys would be much appreciated.

well if budget is a concern buy a used rebuilt one from promotion tranmissions. get the t-45 which is built to be able to handle most things thrown its way and it runs about 1500 with core. or some of these guys will tell you to go with a tko500 or tko 600.

And why is the 3650 bad? Isn't it supposed to be an upgrade for the 45?

T3650 is alot stronger then a T-5 but in this case i would say either a tremec 3550, had it in my fox and it was awsome, or a tko 500 or 600

the 3650 is definitely stronger but it has so many problems, just do a search and see all the issues. the t-5 is JUNK, straight up CRAP! but the t-45 is much, MUCH better. i have no experience with the 3550 so i cant comment on it. but i've driven t-45, t-45r, tko-500, and t-56 equipped mustangs and they rock, especially the t-45r, tko-500, and t-56. it just depends on how much you wanna spend.

I just bought a rebuilt t45 for $600. I also bought a resurfaced flywheel for $40, I am waiting for the bbk clutch kit, and a hayes clutch.

Its sounding like a t-45 is going to be the best bet for me from what I have read, but how does the clutch and shifter and what-not run in price wise in comparison to the others? Are they also less expensive then the corresponding parts for the other trannies?
