I had the same crap happen to me but on the freeway doing 60mph. Thank god traffic was fairly light that day and I didn't panic.

This is why I always lift up on the hood after i close it due to almost having a similar situation once. Good luck with the new hood. Once it is on there you will forget all about the little incident.

I did the same thing in my 89. Except i was going 40 mph and as i went over a set of train tracks the hood completely rip off the hinges smacked the roof and landed in someones yard. It sucked.
