Default TECH: Ford Plastic Intake Lawsuit Settled!!!

Guess what, pissed off cracked intake fans? Ford has had to settle its many lawsuits (thank you concerned Ford drivers) on that rotten plastic intake design found on so many Ford products. Something as common as the cracking of the intake has got to be considered a major flaw that should have many years ago been recalled by Ford......that is IN TOTAL, not just piece meal as in its past poor effort!

The terms of the settlement include:

• Ford will reimburse customers with receipts for the intake repair.
• Ford will pay $735.00 to those without receipts, provided that they can verify with a dealership that a repair was made.
• Ford will extend the warranty coverage for customers whose intakes have not failed.

Why would it not apply to the pi intake that is all plastic? I have a 01' with a all plastic intake on it. I hope that it does apply to all that way I can take mine into ford and have it replaced.

Does anyone know how/who to contact about this? Would we just contact Ford? I know with my car (1999 GT) I had the same exact problem, but it wasn't actually apart of the recall. If there was a lawsuit won, would it be on cars even without a recall "technically" on it?

I dont think they will replace it unless its cracked/damaged, but it would
be nice!

It said

Quote:

Dearborn, Michigan. Ford has agreed to settle lawsuits filed agaist it due to cracking intake manifolds on certain 1996-2001 4.6L engines. The engines are found in: Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car, Mustang, Cougar and Thunderbird models. The settlement could impact over 2 million vehicles and cost Ford up to $375 million USD.

The plastic intake manifolds Ford used were plastic and were nortorious for cracking, thus causing coolant leaks.

The terms of the settle include:

• Ford will reimburse customers with receipts for the intake repair.
• Ford will pay $735.00 to those without receipts, provided that they can verify with a dealership that a repair was made.
• Ford will extend the warranty coverage for customers whose intakes have not failed.

So I believe they will replace it, I am going to call ford tomarrow and find out if that is so.
