Default 14" rotors for brembo 4 piston caliper?

hey guys, i got my hands on 4 brembo 4 piston calipers. they are the same ones off a viper and they use a 14" x 1.3" rotors. long story short i like being different and ive already started on some designs for the caliper brackets and im pretty sure they are going to work. the only problem is i cant seem to find any rotors now, and ideas on who might have em? kno i can find em for 05-up but nothing for my 96. if it helps i do have 18's so i know these things are gonna clear too.

Call Brembo directly. They can tell you the rotor you need and they may even have a bracket. I know two people to use similar Brembo brakes on different cars and both times Brembo was able to tell them what they need. I actually had a set on my Model A, Tits! (Although my rolling chassis already had them so I didnt do it.)

just thought id give u an update, brembo doesnt make a bracket for these calipers, i did make a bracket out of a solid piece of aluminum and the caliper mounted but im still searching for a rotor. Brembo makes some 2 piece designs but they told me they work with their complete brembo kits and not sure if it would work for my application.. so im kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place now on this one.

Will the calipers even fit behind your bullitts? I know that the Cobra R kit will not.

that's usually why people actually make the bracket AFTER they have rotors on, to make sure that they're going to work.

You've kind of put the carriage before the horse havn't you?

Oh, and I believe GT500 brakes have the same bolt pattern as us

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...058&questions=[]

(part number 42253)

I think that'll work

anyway, just get the rotors, and then make the bracket AFTER you get the rotor mounted so that it fits

And if you need to know if it'll fit, they will probably have one in store, so you can probably take the callipers in and test fit them off the car

I have godspeed 18x9's not bullitts, but as far as fitment issues its lookin like it should work. I realize the backspacing of the rotor is different but a friend had a used 14" rotor off his subaru and we drilled some holes and just lined stuff up and with the caliper on the rotor it fits just right in the wheel. (but of course if the rotor is moved any closer to the wheel, it would rub for sure)

as for riggin the brakes up, i dont really think its that big of a deal. As long as the bracket is made solid and the caliper is mounted solid i see no reason why it would fail. The only thing i will have to make sure of is that the hydraulic brake booster will create enough pressure to move these things. If anything maybe just put 2 on up front and get the cobra upgrades for the back ones.

I'll have to look into the 14" brakes for the gt500, but i believe the bolt pattern is different i thought. I could be wrong but ill look into it.

i hear what ur saying here, i just mocked up a bracket just outa a solid piece of metal just to mock stuff up, its not gonna be the final design cuz obviously like you said, i gotta get the rotors lol.

I dont know if i mentioned this also, but i didnt know this. Brembo told me anything they make for an OE like for the vipers, the porsches, or nething else that has a brembo caliper stock, they won't have any information on because i guess the designs are sold straight to ford, porsche, gm, or w/e and they never see them again. and they are built specifically for those cars and any specs on them are gonna be completely different than any designs they offer for aftermarket applications, at least so i was told. Just something kinda interesting.

I just looked it up, and it says that the GT500 bolt pattern is 5x114.5mm, and the 94-04 bolt pattern is 5x4.5"

now, converting 114.5mm / 25.6(mm/inch) ~ 4.5"

it should be the same to within .01" as far as the bolt pattern goes. Hope that helps

another problem I see however is the thickness of the rotor, and clearance for pads.

If the rotors and caliper aren't perfectly parallel, the pads will wear funky, not to mention they might have sliding issues.

if you can make sure that the GT500 rotors are the right size, then other than that, just make sure you line them up perfectly and they should work

hey yea the size was right and the rotor fit like a glove. but unfortunately the rotor doesnt move it far enough away from the backside of the rim and the way the rim is made, it would have to have about another 3/4" offset to the inside to make it work. looking like i might need to scrap the idea now and move onto somethin else lol
