yeah same here, mine will rev past 4k, it's just the more load it's under the worse it is. if it were a bad maf, would it be running bad all the time? is there a way to test the maf so i can tell if it's bad before i replace it? i've already dumped enough money into this car, i can't afford to spend another $300-$400 on a new maf unless it's necessary.
I did it, the car runs...but like I said, I cant really tell if the car runs any better at part throttle.
Especially with the 3600 stall converter I have...its real hard to tell if its running any better and Im not gonna get into boost with no maf plugged in.
does your '96 have a fuel rail pressure sensor on the driver side fuel rail? i posted this over on stang net also and that was one thing that was suggested to me. seems like a cheap(er) part to replace than a maf, if i have to resort to just buying parts until i pinpoint the problem.
also, does anyone know of a way to test the fuel injectors? can you put a stethoscope to them and tell when they're opening and closing while the car's running?

It does have the fuel rail pressure sensor but from what ive heard the fuel pressure will be so high the car wont even idle.

any word on your car yet? i found a replacement 90mm Lightning MAF for $85 so i'm going to give that a shot. it'll be over a week before i can install it though, but hopefully this fixes it.

I should hear back sometime soon, I will post later tonight and let you know what I know.

It is the MAF...Im getting a HPX sensor and going from there.
great news! that gives me some hope that mine will be that simple (assuming the maf is your only problem).
i'm ordering my new lightning maf tomorrow and hope to get around to installing it next weekend (week after 4th of July).
EDIT: this is a link to the MAF i'm getting, it says in the details that it's calibrated for 42# injectors, which is what i'm running. will this be pretty much a plug-and-play deal, or will there be additional tuning required to get it running?
