Default TECH: Gears? The Know-All to 96-04 Gear Questions

Anyone interested in doing a complete write up on gears? How they affect the T-45 tranny versus the 3650, early 4.6 and 99+ 4.6?

Someone can either do a complete write-up or everyone can contribute small bits of CORRECT info. I would just do it myself but I fear not everyone will agree with my opinion on gears...

Not sure if this thread is open to questions but I was just wondering if I get 4.10 gears for my 01 auto GT will I have to buy a tuner also or will I be fine without a tuner? I have no other mods besides flowmasters. I need all the information on this question I could possibly get so please throw in your 2 cents.

Thread is still open! You will need a tuner to fix your speedometer and you will need to adjust your shift points as the new gears will make it shift a little wacky.

Just throwing out a quick tip....

Everyone says....you get 3.73's and you'll regret it.......well, I am living proof. My 3.73's aren't enough, but I'm not paying for a swap! BTW...I would get 4.30s if I did it again!

Eh, I'mreally satisfied with 373's. 410's would be too annoying to drive with on the highway with the tranny I have. I have said this a billion times......for those with the newer tranny you should get the 410's and the older style like mine should get 373's. That is of couse if you actually care about how high your rpm's will be on the freeway. If not then get 4.56's! LOL
