Question What is the best way to get 400+hp?

Ill soon have around 10k maybe more to spend on my 96 mustang gt.
All i have now is full exhaust, intake, and well just average stuff.
It will still be a daily driver also for a while so i do not want anything to extreme. The engine i have now has about 200,000 miles so keep that in mind.
Any ideas you guys have i would be happy to hear.

I would say to go with a forged shortblock, pi heads intake, possibly blower cams and a blower setup.

This might put you back a good bit but if you have enough money You should probably go with a stronger transmissions.

Are you auto or manual?

Assuming that your goal is 400 rwhp (450-470 hp at the crank) $10,000 will get you a used PI motor, a supercharger, installation and a few other mods such as sub-frame connectors, gages and gears. Unless you can do the work yourself, its not enough for a forged short block and a supercharger. You might be able to get an 03/04 Cobra motor but I have no idea how much the installation would be.

I'm supercharging mine. Procharger P1SC w/ intercooler.

I've spent $2600 and it's going on on the 20th.

Head unit, piping, bypass valve, intercooler - $1400
Bracket - $286
Fuel pump, wideband O2, mech. boost gauge - $300
Injectors + adapters - $185
Quarterhorse + Binary Editor + EEC Analyzer - $360
Belt, vacuum lines, fittings, misc small parts - < $40

I think that's all I have spent so far. I still need an OBD-II datalogger (bluetooth one will cost me $150), but I'm borrowing a friend's SCT tuner for that for now.

With the 3.6" pulley that's on there I'll get ~7-8psi which will put me at 360-370 rwhp. A smaller pulley, with a target of 11 psi will put me over 400.

Done deal.

Get a built long block from MMR with TF heads, custom cams, intake, etc. You can stay N/A and get 400rwhp, for about 7k$. That leaves you 3k$ to do supporting mods so that power doesnt break your ride.
