Default MT broke 2nd gear! Best Option to Fix?

OK first off I have an '03 GT manual trans in my 96 GT. Well, I have no second gear anymore after I missed second and grinded the crap out of it. I assume the syncros are garbage now. Every other gear works.

Is it a T-5 in an '03?

I was told a t56 6 spd from f-body LT1 would bolt up to the t-5 bellhousing. I would assume if this was the case that the driveshaft would have to be modified.

Should I just fix what I got?

Thanks guys for your help!

Isn't it like a 3650 I think in the mid 02 and up? I can't really remember. I know early 02's had the t-45. Maybe jsut pick up a rebuilt t-45 as that should work

The 2003 have the T-3650 so I want to say that LT1 tranny won't bolt up without modifications. Someone will chime in and help more.

the t-56 transmission was in 03-04 cobras. so an lt1 t-56 with a cobra bellhousing and driveshaft/crossmember modifications and it should work. the tail shaft on the transmission may need to be changed out as well but im not sure

A t-56 from a cobra is different from a t-56 from a chevy.
