Default two coolant sensors

hey guys, i have a 97gt
it has 2 coolant temp sensors and was just wondering why... and if i needed them both. maybe delete one if possible.

does one specifically tell the computer and one tell the guage?

one runs the computer, and fans the other one runs the gauge and yes you need them both

what would be the reason for deleting one anyways?
