Default what is the difference 2003 Ford Crown Victoria 4.6 sohc and a mustang engine.

Is a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria 4.6 sohc different than the mustang engine. I have a 1969 convertible and was thinking of buying this for my mustang. Would this make sense or would it not be a respectable engine for the mustang. What is the real difference between the crown victoria engine and the mustang.
Thanks

Last time I looked, when I was looking to buy my 2008 Mustang, the Crown Vic was only available through fleet sales and even the cop car version only had 250 HP vs the GTs 300 on a car that weighs 500 pounds more. There must be something different to account for the 50 ponies.

There is absolutely zero difference between the CV 4.6 and the Mustang 4.6 of that year other than the exhaust manifolds and the upper intake elbow points the other direction. Its the same intake manifold, cams, heads, compression, everything. Only reason for the increased output of the Mustang was the better exhaust and the increased timing in the ECM tune.
