Yeah, that is what I will have to do. I am satisfied that this isn't too tough of a project, nor too expensive, so I am going to start pulling my engine tomorrow. I will do my very best to take pics and make a complete writeup on it.

Alright day 1 is over and the following is done:
  • Compression tests to confirm HG failure.
  • All fluids drained
  • Battery Disconnected
  • All wiring disconnected
  • Radiator fan removed
  • Power steering and A/C compressor removed and wired to the side
  • Starter and Exhaust removed
  • All fuel and vacuum lines removed
  • Motor Mounts disconnected
  • Throttle cable disconnected
  • Bellhousing bolts disconnected
  • Hood removed

Essentially everything required to pull the motor has been pulled. Would have gotten the whole engine pulled, but it got dark. All in all, that took me 4 hours. Next step is to remove the old engine and then I am going Lincoln hunting on Saturday. Primarily because that is when my dad can help me and I have access to his truck.

Alrighty, got the engine out and the first pics. Nothing special, anyone that has pulled the motor will have seen these.

Couple of shots of the big bastard.

A little OT but what kind of engine hoist/puller is that? From the pictures it looks like a pretty effective, home made, set up.

Yeah, it's custom home made. My dad made it with angle iron and heavy duty swivel wheels as the feet, 2.5 inch electrical conduit for the base legs and 2 inch for the upper part so it slides into the lower part. He drilled holes in the upper part to allow a pin to go in. That allows for adjustable height and to keep the lower part from twisting. Then he welded a small chain in the middle of the top bar to attach a hoist.

It works well, but height is an issue, I had to push the car into the driveway since I couldn't get clearance under the car port. (Car port and Motorhome port are also custom made by my dad.)
