I don't think it's the ECM or fuel pump, etc. I have had similar issues in the past, but the cause was a loose wire on the battery. It is rare (but possible) to have a break in a wire without cracking the insulation. I would start with a thorough inspection of ground points, then the wires. Hell, I'd check the wires on the positive side too at this point. Somewhere in the base electrical system the circut is open.
One other thought - tell me if I'm out of my mind guys, but if his key switch on the column went south, could that be an open ground issue?
My Fox body GT was acting in the same way as you describe, and it ended up being a dirty mass air flow meter, and/or dirty throttle body. I spent SEVERAL hundred dollars replacing things on my own to fix the problem, and finally gave up and took it to a shop. I DID even clean out the TB and MAF, but forgot that the electronic connection require cleaning also. The garage cleaned it correctly and runs better than it ever had.
ok well i called today at the ford place and they have not put the fuel pump driver side module in like i thought they did.It come up on the computer that it was failed, so i am hoping this will fix it because thats the only other code coming up. (do you think this could be the problem to blame for all of this?)
