Default Power steering and brakes went out. Please help!!!

When I was on my way to work coming back from lunch (Subway rules!!!) I was getting back on the street to head back to work. I got on the street and was at about 3000RPMS and then I shifted in 2nd gear. In 2nd I went to 4000RPMS and that's when I noticed that my brake felt like iron. I couldn't push it down to save my life and the little I did I noticed barely made the car stop. To make matters worse when I go to make a turn the steering wheel felt like it was 100lbs heavier and I had to put my entire body weight into it to get the darn thing to turn just a little bit. Anyone have any idea what this could be? I need to get this fixed ASAP! I need my car and don't want to risk getting into an accident. Any ones help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you break the belt? Any warning lights come on? The brakes are run off from the power steering, so the pump could have gone bad, or a line could have busted. I need more info.

The belt is still there. No check engine light came on. The brakes are new. Hope that helped.

Something might have happened to the hydro boost. That and the power steering pump are the only things that can affect the brakes and the steering. Check to see if you have any power steering fluid, if not, you may have busted a line somewhere.

Either the hydroboost or the power steering pump. Probably the hydroboost, the power steering pump usually makes an awful racket when it's going out.

Is the hydroboost something that normally goes out?

I have heard of a few going out. Seems like the only logical thing to me.
