Default TECH: Gas Mileage for your 96-04 GT/Mach 1/Cobra

What kind of gas mileage do you get?

Please include your model year, transmission type & rear gear ratio.

With my old 02 GT, I got anywhere from 19-24MPG in town with a 5 speed & 4.30 gears. Short shifting and not using the engine to slow down will get you great gas mileage.

With my 04 Cobra 6 speed, I've average around 16mpg, but I'm not short shifting. The stock 3.55 gears bog too much.

2004 GT stock tranny and gears. City around 16-19, depending on how I drive. And highway 25-30, for some odd reason I get awesome gas milage on the highway. I usually drive around 65mph.

2003 GT w/ stock tranny and 4.10's. Get around 16 mpg with me flooring it probably 25% of the time. I do mostly city driving. It equals out to about 200-205 miles per tank.

My 04 GT 5speed manual gets 32+ mpg while driving on a two lane 55mph road. There are a few hills and five stoplights.I drive this 100 mile round trip commute five or six days per week and unless I run the car hard I can get this kind of mileage out of every tank of gas.Mods are,SB air filter,Accufab 75mm T/B and elbow,Bassani mid-length headers,X pipe W/cats,and cat backs.Steeda UDP's and timing adjuster. The Steeda timing adjuster gave the biggest increase in mileage at +2 mpg's.This IS driving like an elder all of the time but you can't test a new part that you promised your wife that it would increase gas mileage by running WFO now can you?

In my 01 GT 5-speed I average about 16-18 mpg with all city driving but not really getting on the gas too much. Also, all I have done is an o/r x-pipe and slp lm2 catback.

So exactly how many miles to the tank do you get? I'm sorry but I doubt you get near 450 miles per a tank of gas.

'03 Cent GT, Auto, stock 100% 19.5 to 20 mpg on average driving, 20 to 22.5 mpg if really conciously respecting the price of gas. 240-260 miles when I fill up, 89 octane.

My commute is 30 miles one way, US 1 into Phila. 45 mins to 1 hour, 15-20 stop lights. from stop ( of course) to 70 mph.

Only had it 2 months, hasn't been on a long highway trip yet.

2003 GT, with 5-speed and stock gears. I drive pretty much only around town, and i get about 18-21MPG depending on my foot. I also get about 250-270 Miles per Tank.

2004 GT mostly stock, CAI and a new exhaust (still untuned) manual too, of course.

On average with my daily commute to work and a couple other places I get 260-280 miles per tank, 18 MPG or so. Some hard driving, some in neutral coasting from ~55 down to 30 before coming to a light. (I'd like to see guarnibl's math, 200 miles per tank and 16 MPG?! Smaller tank perhaps? Mustang tanks are 15 gallons as far as I know).

On a 1500 mile highway trip I got an average of 21 MPG.
