Default RE: TECH: Manual transmissions, T45, T5, 3650, T-56 ETC

Blew up My tranny so I’ve been leaning the hard way
79-93=T5
96-early 2001=T45
Late2001-03(including cobra 99 till 02, Bullit and Mach 1=3650
Cobra 03-04=T56
between 98 and 99 the T-45 Had some changes they are slightly different and the speed sensor is different 96-98=mechanic speed sensor
99-early 2001=electronic speed sensor

So pretty much the 3650 and the 99-early 01 T-45 are direct swap, 3650.
T-45 99-early 01 will fit in a 96-98 but you will need some mods to make your speedometer work
the T56 (from a cobra) will fit in a 4.6l but you will need a shorter drive shaft and a 10 spline input shaft, if you want to adapt a T56 from a camaro, corvette or other you will need bellhousing, intermediate plate, clutch fork, 10 spline input shaft, and cross member off of an 03-04 Cobra T-56, my two cents

Default RE: TECH: Manual transmissions, T45, T5, 3650, T-56 ETC

The gears in a Tremec cannot be replaced from another model. example: gears from a T56 will not work in a 3650. I asked TTC because I was curious about changing my 3650 gear 1 to a T56 gear 1 and they said it won't work.

However, a 3650 can be replaced by a T56 w/ a slightly shorter drive shaft. (one of my projects way down the road.)

Default RE: New Mustang Owner ? about Trans

T-3650's are just about as ****ty as the T-45's, my second gear syncro went out, got that a couple other **** fixed in it, still clashes going into second, brand new throw out bearing, now its making noise's 4 hours after it was put in (a mechanic at a dealership who did it is still wondering why the 2nd is all ****ed up bc he thinks it may be the forks, but thought they looked fine when it was apart)

Default RE: New Mustang Owner ? about Trans

i have a tremec 3650 in my car as of this monment but i have a tko500 (pro 750) from mustangmodularracing.com ..... the tranny is built and for the swap to a tko, you will need a new bellhousing, clutch, tranny, and might as well get a new flywheel since you are starring right at it when the clutch is removed. the capacity of my tranny is 750hp and 750 torque... i blew the syncro's out of 3rd gear of my 3650 so i decided to beef up the drive liine with a TKO in there....

I have a 2002 GT with the TR3650. I bought it in January of 2006. Is there anyway to find out if the 2nd gear synchro was "beefed" up under the warranty? It was bought from a used car dealer and I do not have any of the maintenance records so I do not know if this was done or not.

It's doubtful that it was done. I know mine isn't, and it's starting to get REAL weak... in normal driving it'll just grind, clutch is on the floor and I'm shifting from about 3200 RPM and it'll just grind instead of going in, like there's no synchronizer there at all... does this about 1/60 shifts from 1-2, but it's becoming more frequent, it's rather embarassing. 2-3 shift is real strong and I've grinded it all but once or twice, I seem to grind the 1-2 shift all the time though, even with the clutch to the floor and light driving.

If you're not having problems with it by this time, the TSB will not be an issue for you.
