Default If u have 4.10's

If you have 4.10 gears in your 99-03 stang, I'd like to get some reviews? I'm getting them installed this week...and I just can't wait to see what they're like! How do you like them, do they make a noticeable difference? Any good track improvements??? I'm not concerned with freeway driving...my tires only touch the freeway on the way to the track...

There are ups and downs to getting a new gear ratio in your mustang:
The Up's Are that your accleration off the line will be awesome!!! You will literally launch off the line. Your shift ration will also change, you will shift faster than you usually do because you will reach the shift point in your rpm's quicker. Personally i shift about 2500 rpms when i am driving normally. The only downside to a 4.10 gear ratio swap is that your top speed with decrease. Instead of being able to top out at let say 150mph you will now top out at about 120mph. Beleive me the pro's far out weigh the con's.

4:10s work great with automatic. 5-speed stick to 3:73s or 3:55s i know a guy with 4;10s in a stick and he has trouble on the 1/4 mile always missing shifts

Yeah, I have a 5 speed. I guess a tri-ax shifter or something would definately come in handy then, right?

yep...with this gear ratio wheel spin will be worse.....as for top speed 150 on the street is dangerous

I didnt get a decrease in top end when I installed my gears. Before it was electronically limited to 150 MPH, now with the chip in and the 3.73s I hit a max top speed of like 158, only because I didnt want to push it any harder, and it seemed like it wasnt wanting to go much faster.

Well...if you see me going over 120, slap me on the face!

I'm hoping this'll be great for accelerating from streetlight to streetlight. I'm looking for something to kind of punch me back in the seat. Right now I have no low end acceleration (3000rpm and under). I am hoping this will change that...

You top speed will not decrease w/4.10's, because the stock 3.27 is too tall for a mustang to reach it's top speed potential. 4.10's allow the use of more of the power that is available, so that 150+ is possible on stock 99+. I have an '02 that I have had to 149mph so far w/some modifications, but stock 140mph was pushing it. A 3.27 would allow a Stang (in theory) to push over 200mph if it had enough horsepower, & better aerodynamics. That will not happen though, as our cars are way to weak for that as stock, & nowhere near aerodynamic enough.

BTW...I've had the Gixxer to 180mph on the speedo, so Rice if you want a slap on the face for 120, I think I need to be put on punishment.

I have 4.10's in the garage, but not installed yet, so my speeds have been reached w/my 3.27

Ok, ok....I've driven fast before as well.....one time coming back from the track, I followed this group of turbocharged eclipses and talons...I was up to about 140 at one point. We all have those moments I guess...as long as there are no cops it's not illegal right?

*But not to get off topic or anything...once I have the chip in my car with the gears...and the exhaust and intake, think I'll be able to pick on Z28's? I'm running 13.8's at the track now without the comp. or gears. No one bring up Camaro SS's cause I drive a GT, not a Cobra...
