4.10's aren't even an option for me, I decided against them long ago.

So... 3.73 or 3.90? That's the question...

For the money, I'm thinking 3.90's... I can't imagine the 3.90's are considerably different than the 3.73's in terms of mileage and reving but I do imagine the difference will be noticeable in terms of kickback.

Give me a definitive answer guys! 73 OR 90? Time to vote! [sm=smiley1.gif]

Thanks again for all the help.

Yea, until about 120mph or so, then you get left by 3 car lengths by the guy w/4.10's!

4.10s are way to steep, for pretty much any car that doesnt have some wider tires. After getting the 3.73s im thinking of going nitto drag radials just to keep up. Complete burnout in 1st, and capable of breakin them loose in 2nd while in gear atm.

I cant imagine 4.10s. Would be spinning constantly all the way thru 2nd.

Whats the point of the steeper gears unless you can hook up? Most of my races are stoplight to stoplight. At the same time, on the highway im still doing ok. Not great milage, like 18mpg, but I can still run 70-80 mph with no problem.
I can run all through 1st, & 2nd now with my t/c ON!, & my 4.10's haven't even been installed yet. 4.10's will have you spinning unless you have DR's. I ordering the Nitto NT555r's, so I can hook. With those tires, 4.10's will leave you smiling.

You are complaining about something you've not even done to your car, because of hearsay.

That's my concern, spending that much money for a minor noticeable change... I'm beginning to think 3.90's... the difference between 3.90's and 3.73's can't be all that much regarding engine reving in 5th gear can it? But I'm sure the kick is considerable different from stock 3.27 to 3.90. Thoughts?

PS. I don't personally know anyone with a GT Mustang, let alone someone who has done gear mods... wish I did, it would definitely help.

Thanks.

So, you are telling me here that you are dismissing the 4.10's, & you have NEVER even been in a Stang w/them! So, basically you have no idea how the feel, yet are worried, about 200rpm increase over 3.73's? Or 100rpm if not less w/3.90's? Dude, get the 3.90's unless you are going to be adding a p/a later on, & let the horse die. You are still going to need DR's, might as well order them too.

Then go 3.90's then.

I'm telling you, from what you told us about your driving habits, you will not like the 4.10's in your car.

Just ask HotRodMan....he ripped his out for 3.73's after a few weeks!

Hotrodman also has near 300RWHP.

yes ripped those 4.10s right on out of there,,,3.73s rest peacefully now,,to much for constant highway use,,.........only took 800 miles of driving,to make me change them........[]

Ok, Hotrodman has 300RWHP..cool.

But it is the decision to go with the 4.10's, or 3.90's for HIS type of driving.

If he goes with 3.90's or the 4.10's then he's gonna need traction so he'll get some DR's, but then he does his long road trips...on what? DR?

If he has another set of rims, he can just swap them out. If not, what's wrong w/driving on DR? They are not the best in the rain, but Mustangs suck in the water anyway, so it'd be best to just drive like you've got some sense, & keep the DR's on in case a Z28 comes along, & you WILL need traction to give it some competition.

you still didn't respond to what I said about the dismissile of the 4.10's. Nothing to say?

I say since you have a 5 speed that 4.10's would be perfect and not hurt mileage to much.

If you had a auto 4 speed i would say 3.73's.

Go with 4/10's 3.73's wont be **** with the 5 speed 4.10's will give a much better response.
