Default Cams n' Pulley n' Timing

Someone told me that cams would be a great way to get some more performance out of my Mustang. I have an 03' 5-speed and want a size that's streetable. Does anyone have cams? Are they a big difference?

I am also considering a March Pulley/Timing adjuster setup. Can anyone possibly tell me how these work on their stangs?

Have you already adressed complete exhaust, intake, TB, upper plenum, gears? Cams since there are 2 on a 2V will not be cheap and not a common mod for a 4.6, unlike a pushrod motor.

Cams can make a large difference, even on a nearly stock engine. The problem is, to truly maximise the cams, you are going to need a CAI/K&N, MAF, T/B, plenum, gears, chip and pretty much full exaust.

If you are planning on getting all of these mods, and the cams, you need to do the other mods first. That way, you can get a much heavyer cam (one suited to your modded needs).

If you are planning getting cams only, you have to get a much lighter cam (one your non modded system can handle, lots of people put in a cam that is much heavyer than needed.) A correctly cammed 4.6 will probably put out about 30 to 40 more horespower with the cams only. The problem is this costs about a grand (from comp cams).

I would say, if you cant do all the mods, and the cams, just forget about the cams. Do the mods instead. You'll end up with about the same horsepower and never have to deal with putting in the cams. Your car wont be choked down, and will be more responsive.
