Whats up with my traction control?

Whats up with my traction control?
This may be a dumb question but, I dont know if my traction control works properly. Is there supposed to be a light that indicates whether or not it is on or off? I was tooling around today, and occasionally the green light in the guage cluster would turn on when the tires started to spin. I want that garbage off. I've pressed the button on the console a few times and get nothing, no lights or anything, so how do I know if it is on or off? thanks

RE: Whats up with my traction control?
When the car starts, the "traction control off" light comes on for a few seconds then goes off. After the car has been running 15 seconds or so, press the "traction control off" light on the console and it should light up and be disabled. The green light on the dash indicates wheelspin. This feature defaults to ON with every engine start. I ALWAYS shut mine off.
I did see a product that defaults the trac off light to whatever position you leave it in.
