Painting calipers
Im trying to paint my calipers and even though ive sanded them down with a metal brush and sanded with sand paper and steel wool and then cleaned them with brake cleaner, the paint still seems to have problem sticking. Should I use a primer first? it's really bothering me and Im losing patience.
Thanks

RE: Painting calipers
i never did any of that. i got new rims and when they where mouting my new tires and rims they just painted the calipers black and let them dry while they balanced and thats that. ive never heard of anyone doing anything else. why would you even sand then down just paint over them there will be no differance they get dirty anyway.

RE: Painting calipers
You have done all the preperation right but you might need to invest in high temp laquer paint. Usually around 60 bucks for the kit but it is enough to do a couple of coats and looks professional. You have to let the car sit atleast 18hrs for it to cure.
VHT does make brake and cailper paint that works ok but over time the brake dust eats into and needs to be redone.
I suggest the high temp laquer though. Did it on my Honda and it came out mint. Never discolored chip or peeled. Cleaned up nice and wasn't affected by rim cleaner or brake dust.
