Check Engine Light Won't go away!!HELP
Hi, my check engine lights doesnt seem to go away. Got it checked by mechanic who told me A/c needs to be recharged. Got that done - the damn light is back again. Now maybe there is an issue of Exygen sensors. ANy idea after how many miles/years a normal sensor change is required? And how much does it cost - parts and labor? ANy other suggestions on what i should get checked, what could be the cause of this damn light?? HELP!!

Mine never goes away either. You can buy one of those obdII scanners to check it and turn it off yourself. That's what I have. I says I have some lean banks and off fuel to air mixture or something like that. I'm abuot to do a big PI install job so I'm not worried about it right now. I've heard others who it will go off and come back on about a 1000 miles later...I hate the damned thing.

My 4.6 calls for a O2 change at 90,000. unfortunately the parts store must NOT have ther interchangeability correct. They asked me if I needed upstream or downstream, I told them upstream,..I think they gave me the downstream ones. The plugs where WAY too short,..so I spliced them on,..unfortunately there are two grey wires, one black and one white. I may have mixed up the greys. Now the car runs like crap until about 15 min. warm up. I think its the heating element ,..the down streams probably don't have one. 50.00 each at parts stores vs. 100.00 at FORD I took a chance,..Now I have to let it warm up.

I have found out that it is good to check the cheap stuff first.Soon some cars it can be the gas cap not sealing that sets off this light.I don't know for sure but it could be.

what other things came up on your car? so u recharged your a/c and still your light came on. it is possible that one of your o2 are bad. one thing u do have to do is make sure u have the right color wires that cnnect to your o2 sensors.. i also have my own scanner and i do my own scanning on my stang.. if any one needs to have there stang hooked up to the scanner i can do!!!
