Process of doing intake manifold
all i can say is woohoo, so far everything is off except one side of the coil packs, decided to take a break, lol. everything came off so smooth i almost fall back in love w/ ford, lol. anyways, my fuel injectors were kinda dirty, and the hole they go into, around the edges there was a bunch of gunk, and on one of em there was a woodchip!?!? seriously, anyways i cleaned that out carefully. im waiting to take the intake manifold off until the new one comes, because i dont want the intake ports exposed for that long, in the meantime im changing sparkies, and my drive belt. question...do those ports from the fuel injects lead through the intake first then the block, or straight down the intake to the intake ports? im just concered about leaving those open if so.
any input, advice and info would be appreciated from you experts. should i inspect my fuel injectors, clean em, ect...

I don't know if you're taking any pictures, or planning on doing a write-up or anything on this, but if you did that would be awesome. I don't know about everyone else, but it looks like I might be takin on this same task here very soon. [&:]

You can go ahead and take the intake off if you like. You can use clean shop rags or paper towels to stuff in the intake ports on the heads to kee out contamination while waiting to put on the new intake. Just DO NOT FORGET to REMOVE them before you put on the new intake! So far as your Injectors, they squirt directly into the intake port from the intake it's self.

yeah just give everything a good wipe down, and spray with carb clean or brake clean. brake clean might be better because it evaporates with no film trace.
when I tear into my engine some day I will be taking pictures. I am gonna be attempting to replace my valve stem seals within a few months so I will try to do a writeup with pix on that. I have to compression test my engine again and do a leakdown test too to make sure that I indeed can do the seals w/o removing the heads
