Default Coil on plug conversion 3.73/4.10

sorry i brought you here under false pretenses but someone on here have to know. i tried using search but came up with no hits. i have a 96 gt that i am interested in doing a coil on plug conversion. the easiest source i've seen are 98 and up cop cars with 4.6. anyone know what this entails? probly the harness and the c.o.p but what else?

id like some more info myself, cause my coil packs get in the way. im thinking of just going with an msd ignition though, which will be just as bad. i guess not many people do the conversion. maybe you should change the title to "3.73s or 4.10s?" thatll get some attention.

i actually had an msd dis-4 on the car before but it wasn't all that amazing , and unless you mega gap the plugs you won't notice it. i just want to convert for the eficiency and the clearing up of room. no more coil packs, no more plug wires.

What does "3.73/4.10" have to do with coils?

Unless your asking ... Should I do COP conversion or do 3.73/4.10 gear upgrade, because if thats the case do the gears.

Won't notice much with the COP conversion unless your heavily modded, blown or sprayed.

EDIT: You have a 96... Not sure if there is a coil over plug conversion for that year? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you'd need new heads/intake manifold/wiring harness/computer if im not mistaken.

umm cause about a dozen gear posts are made per hour, and it was a joke to get more people to read this post. if anything involving the intake or wiring harness is needed to be swapped, count me the hell out.

there is no point in doing that. you will need the ECU from a 99-04 4.6 motor and the tune in the PI Ecu is a little diffrent not much but a little. there is no point in doing this. you will recieve 0 HP from this. if your coil packs ar in the way then get some longer wires and move them

yeah that's right. however, there are previsions on the stock setup. I was looking at my manifold where the spark plugs go and there are the screw holes where you could bolt the coils. So if you really wanted to, you could convert. You are really not going to notice any problem. I've been studying ignition systems in school, and as long as your plug wires don't short to ground anywhere or have any opens, they will be perfectly fine

the car is blown so i guess i will have to look more into it. if its an easy swap i would do it just for the cleaning up the engine bay and not having to fight every spark plug boot for 30 mins to remove it. besides the fact how much more efficient and reliable a cop is versus a waste spark system.

i guess it's more efficient... it's just to make things cheaper and more streamlined I guess. There really is no problem with a waste spark setup... we were analyzing it today in class
